Overview
The Laigter Plugin is a tool for Godot that automates the generation of normal and specular maps from diffuse textures by using [[https://github.com/azagaya/laigter][Laigter]], this plugin adds a button to generate textures. -
Installation
- Download the Plugin: Clone or download the repository from GitHub.
- Add to Godot:
- Copy the
laigterfolder into your Godot project'saddonsdirectory. - Open your project in Godot.
- Copy the
- Enable the Plugin:
- Go to
Project->Project Settings->Plugins. - Find the Laigter Plugin and enable it.
- Go to
- Set Laigter Path:
Iflaigteris not available in yourPATH- Go to
Project->Project Settings->Filesystem->Import. - Set the
laigter_pathto the location of your Laigter binary. The default is"laigter". - If the path is not set, the plugin will prompt you to configure it.

** Texture Generation

Select a Texture:
- In the Godot editor, select a node that has a
CanvasTextureassigned.
- In the Godot editor, select a node that has a

Open Inspector:
- In the Inspector panel, locate the
normal_textureorspecular_textureproperties.
- In the Inspector panel, locate the

Generate Maps:
- Click the "Generate" button next to the respective property.
- The plugin will automatically generate the corresponding normal or specular map based on the diffuse texture.
- Notes
- Ensure that the Laigter binary is correctly installed and accessible from the specified path. The plugin verifies the binary upon startup and will notify you if it cannot be found in your
PATH. - The output textures will be generated in the same directory as the original diffuse texture, with
_nor_sappended to the file name.
